The theme of this trek was "God's Majesty Displayed" as we traveled to the Mountain States! Prayer Trek 4 began May 11, 2014. We departed from our home in Texas at 7:30 AM heading toward our first destination of Denver, Colorado. It would take us two days of travel to arrive. On the outbound, we traveled through Amarillo and into parts of west Texas, praying for rainfall to come and put an end to the drought in the small west Texas towns and also our entire state as we journeyed.
Prayer Trek 4 was planned as a 14-day journey that included 4600 miles of travel. The following state capitals on this trek were:
Salt Lake City, Utah
God's strategy for our assignment for Trek 4 referenced the passage of 1 Samuel 17, the story of David and Goliath. David had picked five smooth stones from the brook when going to fight the giant. God spoke to us of the five states we would be going to, and He reminded us that we were going in the power and name of the LORD just as David had done, but also that the battle of this assignment, indeed belonged to the LORD!
- "And that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD's and He will give you into our hands." 1 Samuel 17:47 (NASB)
As we crossed the borders of each one of these mountain states, we were in awe of the beauty of God's creation. We were especially drawn to the majestic views of the mountain ranges. The passage of Psalm 121 rang true in our hearts with an emphasis on verses 1 and 2:
- "I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2 (NASB)
God seemed to write His signature across some of the states with a magnificent display of mountain ranges, prairies, and meadows as well as the incredible opportunities to be able to view wildlife in their natural habitats, such as buffalo, antelope, and deer. As we prayed, we released the Father's heart and God's great love for mankind that is so obviously displayed as the great I AM left his handprint everywhere we looked.
Prayer Trek 4 became significant, because we not only reached the halfway mark in praying for the fifty states, with Montana being state number 25, but we have also now prayed for our nation coast-to-coast and border-to-border! We are grateful that God has taken us this far!
We hope you enjoy the pictures of the capitols for Trek 4 as you join us on our journey.
